This video shows you the proper way to assemble your Goaliath (B2223 and B2220) or Silverback (B5402, B5403 and B5404) 2-piece goal post.

Make a mark 6" from the top of the bottom half of the goal post.
Use a piece of plywood or MDF to set your goal post on to protect your concrete/driveway.
Have a second person help you place the top pole onto the bottom pole, making sure the backside stickers match up.
Pick up and slam down the bottom pole to make the top pole seat down onto it until the bottom of the top pole covers the mark you made 6" from the top of the bottom pole.
